Arrhythmia Devices Curriculum
Upon completion of this course, the PrepMD student will know the history of cardiac stimulation and the device therapies that spawned from the early research. An overview of current indications for cardiac rhythm management (CRM) device therapy will be taught, including ICHD codes for pacemakers and implantable defibrillators.
An in depth review of the importance of computer-based technology will be discussed. Clinical insights through telemetered data technology from implanted devices will be a significant component of this course.
Device implantation techniques as well as patient follow up instruction will be provided in PrepMD’s proprietary PrepLab and Programmer Bar, requiring students to participate in multiple hands-on sessions using actual devices and equipment.
Basic and advanced pacing rhythms will be reviewed, as well as an overview of the clinical prevalence of congestive heart failure (CHF) and the evolution of device therapies to treat various classes of heart disease.
