“Whether you are a candidate looking to enter the medical device industry, a device company needing to hire trained employees or augment your existing training capabilities, an employee looking for continuing education opportunities, or a health care provider looking to improve your staff proficiencies, PrepMD can provide prequalified and trained candidates and tailored training solutions for you.   Find out why we are so much more than a pacemaker school.”

Core Curriculum

Core Curriculum
Core Curriculum provides students with detailed intrsuction on the cardiovascular system, its function and vital processes. The student will learn the terminology and processes that drive device function as well as electrophysiologic procedures. For more detail on the types of classes covered in the core curriculum click on the tab to you left.

Programming and troubleshooting

Programming and Troubleshooting
Students will receive instruction on basic programming and trouble shooting for Brady Arrhythmia, Tachy Arrhythmia and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy devices. Utilizing PrepMD’s first in class Programmer Bar and simulation equipment, students will become familiar with normal and abnormal device function and appropriate trouble shooting procedures. Faculty guided hands on learning coupled with independent practical exercises on simulated scenarios provide the knowledge and confidence needed to begin your career as a medical device representative.

Implant Procedures

Implant Procedures
PrepMD training provides students with a complete understanding of the device representatives role in support of the implant procedures. Students are exposed to sterile technique, operating room etiquette as well as key roles and responsibilities. In addition to didactic classes students receive instructor-guided PrepLab (simulation laboratory) sessions during which the implantation and management of a CRM device will be closely examined in a human heart simulation model. Students will experience the actual insertion of a lead or electrode into the simulation model, complete with bio-feedback and visualization of the heart anatomy during the procedure. Arrhythmic conditions within the heart will be provoked and the interaction between operator, device, and human heart will be reproduced in a simulation of the real-world experience.

Clinical Rotations

Clinical Rotations
The second half of your program will entail frequent attendance at designated medical centers in the metro Boston Area. You will participate in human CRM clinical episodes, learning the actual environment of CRM device implantation. All of the training that you have acquired; in classroom, PrepLab (simulation lab), and at the Programmer Bar, will be realized during these exciting sessions, witnessing first-hand the clinical application of these amazing technologies.

Business Curriculum

Business Curriculum
With over 100 years of combined experience in the medical device industry, PrepMD faculty share their experience and insight in a business curriculum designed to bridge the gap between technology and the business end of the health care industry. Upon completion of this course of study, students will gain a better understanding of the business aspects of marketing these medical devices. Areas of discussion include a field representative’s ethics, conduct, and business acumen. For more details on the business curriculum click on bottom tab to the left.

CANDIDATES

PrepMD is all about “PREPARATION”.  PrepMD will prepare you to enter the satisfying and rewarding career of a Medical Device clinical specialist or sales representative.  In fact, the primary goal of PrepMD is to thoroughly prepare you for a Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) or Electrophysiology (EP) career opportunity, positioning you to become a preferential, pre-qualified, candidate for hire by one of the large medical device companies.

Why are we so confident about your future?

PrepMD is founded by senior executives of the medical device industry.  As hiring managers, both at a field-staffing level as well as at a strategic-organizational level, we understand both the needs of the device organization and the preferences of the hiring manager for recognizing key talent to achieve strategic  goals.

We know:

  1. That a high quality of training must be enabled to ensure that the highest quality of candidate is productive within the most optimal period of time.
  2. Medical device industry hiring practices, and as a result, we can intuitively identify and ideally match the sales and clinical candidate to the sales dynamics of the business.
  3. The medical device business, and its hiring managers, because we actually helped to form the business over the decades that we have enjoyed within it as sales managers and senior executives.

The PrepMD founders have expertly hired sales and clinical staffs, and have successfully built commercial organizations on behalf of medical device companies over decades of experience. These enterprises have ranged from large, medium, and small caps, to start-ups.  Additionally the founders have individually constructed sales and clinical training curricula and platforms that are commonly used among many medical device companies today.

If you are chosen for enrollment in one of the PrepMD training programs, and complete the course of study, you will be well prepared to launch your new medical device industry career; a career with a uniquely specialized and highly rewarded degree of professional satisfaction.
