What is PrepMD?
PrepMD is a medical device training and placement company that was founded in 2009 by executives from the medical device industry that is focused in the cardiovascular, rhythm and electrophysiology businesses.

Where is PrepMD located?
PrepMD is an 8,000 square foot training facility located in Braintree, Massachusetts just 9 miles south of Boston, MA.

When does PrepMD hold their sessions during the calendar year?
PrepMD has 3 sessions per calendar year which are called the Winter, Spring, and Fall Sessions. The Winter Session begins in January, the Spring Session begins in April, and the Fall Session begins in August.

What are the major components of the PrepMD training program and how long is the program?
PrepMD provides a comprehensive training program that includes online preparation, fundamentals and simulation-lab training, clinical rotations and professional development which take place over 6 months.

What is the application process?
PrepMD is a post-graduate program which requires applicants to possess an undergraduate degree and/or have relevant work experience. Candidates can apply online at Once an application has been received the candidate will be contacted to schedule an interview with the PrepMD faculty. The interviews are done on site or via Skype.

What are some typical backgrounds of students that attend PrepMD?
PrepMD has accepted students over the past 8 years with varied backgrounds. Some of the backgrounds include pharmaceutical sales, engineering, nursing, cardiovascular technicians, B2B sales, life science studies, as well as recent graduates. Many of our students that attend PrepMD are career changers looking for a more exciting career that can be socially and financially rewarding.

What is the total cost to attend PrepMD, and are there any additional charges for books, clinical rotations, etc.?
The total cost for any one of the 3 sessions is $31,495. This includes the program cost, online training, all books, iPad (loaner), and software licensing fees, as well as a clinical rotation fee, dosimeter badges and reading fees, a background check fee, and a non-refundable $50 administartive fee.

What percent of graduates get jobs once they complete the PrepMD program and what is the average income for these entry level positions?
PrepMD publishes updated placement rates after each graduating class and makes them available at PrepMD’s current placement rate is above 94% and our graduates' total starting compensation package (base salary, bonus [if offered], car allowances, and/or benefits) ranges between $60,000 and $80,000, depending on placement in either a healthcare or industry based career.

What are some of the positions your graduates accept and who are some of their typical employers?
PrepMD graduates accept field based positions with device manufacturers such as Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Biotronik, Abbott and Stereotaxis as well as clinic based opportunities for healthcare providers such as New York University Medical Center, Northwestern University Medical Center, USC – Keck, and Orlando Health to name a few.

How does PrepMD support student candidates in obtaining a position in the medical device industry?
The co-founders and faculty at PrepMD have all come from the medical device industry, and work closely with training departments, sales management and senior executives to understand each company’s individual needs. PrepMD has contracted with the major CRM, EP and other cardiovascular companies for placement, which insures these companies will look first at PrepMD candidates. This begins with hiring managers visiting our facility to present to students and schedule interviews throughout the program.

What is a typical day like for a student at PrepMD?
Class begins at 8:30am each day and ends at 5pm. Students are quizzed daily and tested weekly. Students participate in morning sessions and afternoon sessions that consist of didactic lectures, simulation workshops or clinical case coverage at local medical centers in the Boston area.

What housing opportunities exist for students that are accepted to the program but do not live in the local area?
Most students accepted to PrepMD live outside the local area and require housing while attending the program. Obtaining housing is the responsibility of the student; however, we provide several suggestions on our website of condos and apartments our previous students have enjoyed. With the accepted students approval we will provide their contact information to incoming classmates that are interested in sharing housing during the program with other students.

How many classes have graduated from PrepMD since the program started?
In September 2017 PrepMD graduated it's 20th session.

Are there application deadlines for each session?
PrepMD uses a rolling admissions process for all sessions throughout the year; however the following dates are used as “cutoff dates” for their respective sessions:
December 1 - Winter Session
April 1- Spring Session
August 1 - Fall Session
